"Abbott's Roding, or Abbess Roothing, 27 miles from London, in Onger hundred and union. Rochester diocese, Essex Arhdeaconry, Onger deanery, takes its name from the cicrumstances of having of old belonged to the Abbess of Barking. Population in 1861 was 220, Acres 1,602"*
